What areas of Connecticut do you serve?

Live-in caregivers can be placed anywhere in Connecticut. Any other duration of care spans from Stratford to Wallingford and then along the northern shoreline up to Madison.


How do I get started obtaining a caregiver for a loved one or myself?

Please complete our home care consultation form, and once you submit it, you can expect a call from us within one business day.


What makes Aides & Companions different from other agencies?

Our flexible care packages, from daily and weekly visits to respite to live-in care, set us apart from other agencies. We can accomodate any duration of care that you or your loved one needs. In addition, you will not encounter an answering machine when you call our agency. We have trained personnel ready to answer your questions.


How do you screen your caregivers?

Our caregivers undergo an extensive screening, including an in-person interview and an extensive, nationwide background check.


Does the agency employ your caregivers?

Yes, the Aides & Companions agency employs our caregivers.

Am I required to sign an agreement with your home care agency?

Yes. The agreement outlines Aides & Companions’ and the client’s responsibilities to each other. At any time, you can cancel our caregiving services without penalty.

What training do your caregivers receive?

Our caregivers receive monthly "in-service" education on various aspects of their job (such as infection control, dementia, and other types of health care training).



What types of insurance does your agency carry?

We carry professional and general liability insurance and worker’s compensation insurance, as well as, fidelity insurance.

How do I know what duration of care I need?

When you contact us, we can discuss what you think your needs might be and, if necessary, provide you with advice on a suitable duration of care. Since we have a range of care options, you or your loved one can be sure to find the proper care.

What are your payment options?

We accept all major credit cards. We also assist you if you have long-term care insurance. View payment details on our Payment Options page.


How do I know when I need a caregiver for myself or a loved one?

You’ll want to consider using our caregiving services when you or a loved one:

• Loses a spouse

• Expresses anxiety about being alone at night

• Has cared for a loved one and may need a break

• Has dizziness and sometimes loses balance and falls

• Finds it hard to manage personal hygiene

• Has confusion or dementia

• Has difficulty walking or getting around

• Is noticeably depressed

• Needs help recovering from a hospital or rehabilitation facility stay


Who is eligible for the Adult Family Living (AFL) Program?

To qualify, patients must:

  • Be 65 years and older.
  • The caregiver and patient must live in the same home in Connecticut.
  • Require assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Have Medicaid and enrolled in the Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders (CHCPE).

Can a family member be a paid caregiver?

Yes, family members (except spouses and legal guardians) can be paid caregivers under the AFL program.

How much does the program pay caregivers?

The caregiver stipend varies based on the level of care required. Payments are determined through an assessment by Aides & Companions, the program’s provider.

Do the caregiver and patient need to live in the same home?

Yes, the caregiver and the patient must live in the same home. The program is designed to provide in-home care in a family-like setting, ensuring the patient receives continuous support with daily living activities.
