Earn While Caring for Your Loved One
Caregivers and a loved one can benefit from the Adult Family Living (AFL) program—also known as Caregiver Homes of Connecticut. Aides and Companions, an accredited AFL agency, can help you get started with this program, which supports elderly individuals staying at home by compensating family or friends (excluding spouses) as caregivers.
How the AFL Program Works
As an approved AFL agency, the program is funded by Medicaid and offered by the Connecticut Department of Social Services. Here’s how it works:
Select and Support Your Caregiver
We provide payment to the caregiver of your choice, which can include a family member or friend. Spouses are not eligible under the program. Your loved one either moves into your home, or you move into theirs, ensuring you remain in a comfortable, home environment.
Receive Comprehensive Training & Support
The caregiver receives expert training, quality oversight, and ongoing support from us to ensure the best possible care for you or your loved one.
Earn Compensation for Care
Caregivers are compensated for assisting with daily and essential living activities, all while working with us, an AFL-accredited agency.

H CSB A+ Agency
Our agency has an A+ rating with the Home Care Standards Bureau (HCSB), which means that we adhere to its stringent code of standards and ethics. Caregiver background checks and annual training are part of these standards.
Our Caregivers
Our caregivers are graduates of state-certified programs and receive monthly “in-service” training to keep their skills honed and relevant. But that’s not all. We ensure that each caregiver we hire is compassionate, patient, dependable, trustworthy, attentive, and an excellent communicator.
Caregiver Services
Our flexible range of caregiver availability includes live-in care, overnight care, 24/7 care, respite care, and hourly,
daily, or weekly visits. They help clients with activities of
daily living, including bathing or showering, dressing, getting in and out of bed or a chair, managing medications, and more. They also provide light housekeeping, transportation services, and pet care.
Home care is more than our work; it’s our calling…
Compassion
We treat our clients with kindness and understanding, deeply listening to them and respecting and honoring their needs and wants.
Safety
By carefully screening and training our caregivers, we ensure that our clients feel safe, secure, and confident
about their care.
Excellence
With a commitment to exceptional care, our caregivers are highly qualified, receive monthly training, and are compassionate, trustworthy people.
